About JMGU
A Unique Organization of Women, By Women, For Women
Jodhpur Mahila Griha Udhyog (JMGU) is a 4 years old established organization that helps women employment in (Jodhpur) Rajasthan. Jodhpur Mahila Griha Udhyog works side by side to assist local poor women who are illiterate and not able to earn enough money to fulfill the needs of their families. The primary concern of JMGU is to meet the needs of poor women who do not have access nor can afford to learn at training centers. It’s founding with the vision to help local women lead better lives by ensuring that sewing is a profitable, sustainable, fulfilling, and dignified form of livelihood for them
Our Vision
To mold a society of equality, justice, and peace through opportunity and socioeconomic development of women. Since historically Rajasthan is known for dry place and even today illiteracy and unemployment is a big challenge here.
Our Mission
To serve as a social innovator for artisans by providing job opportunities that uplift rural India and especially women who are not having primary educations and not having any earning source.
Humble Beginning
In 2015, Ms. Sarita Joshi, with one sewing machine, crafted 100 handbags daily for local stores. By 2017, JMGU registered with 5 women members. Now, 50 rural women produce 6000 units daily, aiming to employ 500 more by 2024.
Contribution towards working women's families
We at JMGU donate 2% Of Our average profit of 3 years additional to working women & families to help with their children’s education and as well as
help them in their social events e.g. weddings of their children etc.
